MapMatrix digital photogrammetry platform is applied to the mapping project of the western part of China
The Western Mapping Project is a 1:50000 scale topographic map blank area mapping project in western my country organized and implemented by the State Bureau of Surveying and Mapping. In 5 years (2006～2010), the western 1:50000 scale was completed with modern high-tech surveying and mapping techniques. The task of topographic map surveying and data building in the blank area of the scale topographic map provides reliable, applicable and timely basic geographic information services for the whole society.
1:50000 topographic map is an indispensable basic map for national economic construction, social development and national security. In the southern desert, Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and Hengduan Mountains in western my country, due to climate, environment, traffic and other conditions and the limitations of previous surveying and mapping technology and equipment, there were more than 2 million square kilometers of land without a 1:50,000 topographic map at the time, forming a 1 : 50000 blank area of topographic map. The blank area involves six provinces, including Sichuan, Yunnan, Tibet, Gansu, Qinghai, and Xinjiang, accounting for 21% of the land area, and the number of 1:50000 topographic maps is 5032.
In 2007, Visiontek's technical solutions and accuracy tests successfully passed the acceptance of the National Bureau of Surveying and Mapping. The National Bureau of Surveying and Mapping purchased 128 sets of MapMatrix's new digital photogrammetry platform and distributed them to Beijing Institute of Surveying and Mapping, Qinghai Provincial Bureau of Surveying and Mapping, and Shaanxi Provincial Bureau of Surveying and Mapping. , Gansu Provincial Bureau of Surveying and Mapping, Sichuan Provincial Bureau of Surveying and Mapping and other eight provincial and municipal surveying and mapping bureaus, Visiontek’s technical support team subsequently completed the technical training of relevant units, which strongly supported the smooth development of the Western Mapping Project.
